³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, ^(A)whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. ³⁵ And ^(B)a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. ^36 (C)Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

⁶ knowing this, that ^(A)our old man was crucified with Him, that ^(B)the body of sin might be ^[a]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

^20 (A)Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. ^(B)All things indeed are pure, ^(C)but it is evil for the man who eats with ^[a]offense. ²¹ It is good neither to eat ^(D)meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles ^[b]or is offended or is made weak. ^22 [c]Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. ^(E)Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

¹⁷ Now ^(A)the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is ^(B)liberty.
