129 Your decrees are wondrous;(A)
therefore I obey them.(B)
130 The revelation of your words(C) brings light
and gives understanding to the inexperienced.(D)
131 I open my mouth and pant(E)
because I long for your commands.
132 Turn to me and be gracious to me,(F)
as is your practice toward those who love your name.
133 Make my steps steady through your promise;(G)
don’t let any sin dominate me.(H)
134 Redeem me from human oppression,(I)
and I will keep your precepts.
135 Make your face shine on your servant,(J)
and teach me your statutes.(K)
136 My eyes pour out streams of tears(L)
because people do not follow your instruction.

137 You are righteous, Lord,(M)
and your judgments are just.
138 The decrees you issue are righteous
and altogether trustworthy.(N)
139 My anger overwhelms me
because my foes forget your words.(O)
140 Your word is completely pure,(P)
and your servant loves it.(Q)
141 I am insignificant and despised,(R)
but I do not forget your precepts.(S)
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
and your instruction is true.(T)
143 Trouble and distress have overtaken me,
but your commands are my delight.(U)
144 Your decrees are righteous forever.(V)
Give me understanding, and I will live.

I will obey your statutes.(W)

I put my hope in your word.
148 I am awake through each watch of the night

149 In keeping with your faithful love, hear my voice.

they are far from your instruction.

and all your commands are true.(AD)
152 Long ago I learned from your decrees
that you have established them forever.(AE)

give me life according to your judgments.

because they do not keep your word.
159 Consider how I love your precepts;

160 The entirety of your word is truth,
each of your righteous judgments endures forever.(AP)

The Flight into Egypt
13 After they were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Get up! Take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to kill him.”(A) 14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt. 15 He stayed there until Herod’s death, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called my Son.[a](B)
The Massacre of the Innocents
16 Then Herod, when he realized that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men.(C) 17 Then what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:
18 A voice was heard in Ramah,
weeping,[b] and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
and she refused to be consoled,
because they are no more.[c](D)
The Return to Nazareth
19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,(E) 20 saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, because those who intended to kill the child are dead.” 21 So he got up, took the child and his mother, and entered the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned in a dream, he withdrew to the region of Galilee.(F) 23 Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.(G)
