Gott macht Geschichte
114 Als Israel aus Ägypten zog,
als die Nachkommen von Jakob das Volk verließen,
das in einer fremden Sprache redete,
2 da machte Gott das Gebiet Juda zu seinem Heiligtum
und Israel zu seinem Herrschaftsbereich.
3 Das Schilfmeer sah ihn kommen und wich zurück,
auch der Jordan hörte auf zu fließen und staute sein Wasser.
4 Die Berge sprangen wie die Schafböcke,
und die Hügel hüpften wie die Lämmer.
5 Was ist mit dir geschehen, Meer?
Warum bist du so plötzlich zurückgewichen?
Jordan, warum hast du aufgehört zu fließen?
6 Ihr Berge, weshalb seid ihr gesprungen wie die Schafböcke,
und ihr Hügel, warum seid ihr wie die Lämmer gehüpft?
7 Erde, erbebe, wenn der Herr,
der Gott Jakobs, erscheint!
8 Er verwandelte Felsen in Teiche voller Wasser
und ließ Quellen sprudeln, wo vorher nur harter Stein war!

The house of Jacob (C)from a people [a]of strange language,
2 (D)Judah became His sanctuary,
And Israel His dominion.
3 (E)The sea saw it and fled;
(F)Jordan turned back.
4 (G)The mountains skipped like rams,
The little hills like lambs.
5 (H)What ails you, O sea, that you fled?
O Jordan, that you turned back?
6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams?
O little hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 (I)Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters.
