Psalm 110

Of David. A psalm.

110 What the Lord says to my master:
“Sit right beside me
    until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet!”

2 May the Lord make your mighty scepter
    reach far from Zion!
    Rule over your enemies!
3 Your people stand ready
    on your day of battle.
    “In holy grandeur, from the dawn’s womb, fight![a]
        Your youthful strength is like the dew itself.”
4 The Lord has sworn a solemn pledge and won’t change his mind:
    “You are a priest forever in line with Melchizedek.”[b]
5 My master, by your strong hand,
    God has crushed kings on his day of wrath.[c]

6 God brings the nations to justice,
    piling the dead bodies, crushing heads throughout the earth.
7 God drinks from a stream along the way,
    then holds his head up high.[d]

New International Version

Psalm 110

Of David. A psalm.

1 The Lord says(A) to my lord:[a]

“Sit at my right hand(B)
    until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet.”(C)

2 The Lord will extend your mighty scepter(D) from Zion,(E) saying,
    “Rule(F) in the midst of your enemies!”
3 Your troops will be willing
    on your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy splendor,(G)
    your young men will come to you
    like dew from the morning’s womb.[b](H)

4 The Lord has sworn
    and will not change his mind:(I)
“You are a priest forever,(J)
    in the order of Melchizedek.(K)”

5 The Lord is at your right hand[c];(L)
    he will crush kings(M) on the day of his wrath.(N)
6 He will judge the nations,(O) heaping up the dead(P)
    and crushing the rulers(Q) of the whole earth.
7 He will drink from a brook along the way,[d]
    and so he will lift his head high.(R)

110 Herren sa till min herre, kungen: Sätt dig på min högra sida och regera. Jag ska besegra dina fiender, och de ska böja sig inför dig.

2 Herren har gjort dig till kung och i Jerusalem står din tron. Därifrån ska din makt utgå och du ska regera över alla dina fiender.

3 När du ställer upp din här kommer ditt folk frivilligt till dig, klädda i heliga kläder. Som daggen om morgonen kommer de unga männen, fulla av ungdomlig kraft.

4 Herren har gett ett löfte och kommer inte att bryta det. Han har sagt att du ska vara präst för all framtid, precis som Melki-Sedek.

5 Gud står vid din sida. På sin vredes dag ska han slå ner många kungar.

6 Han ska döma folken och slagfälten ska vara fyllda av lik.

7 Men själv ska han bli styrkt och uppfriskad av att dricka ur vattenkällorna vid vägen och därigenom segra.
