Wer glaubt, steht unter Gottes Schutz
11 Von David.
Bei dem Herrn suche ich Schutz. Wie könnt ihr da zu mir sagen:
»Du musst ins Gebirge fliehen! Flieg fort wie ein Vogel!
2 Siehst du denn nicht, dass die Mörder schon die Pfeile aufgelegt
und ihre Bogen gespannt haben?
Aus dem Hinterhalt wollen sie auf jene schießen,
die aufrichtig mit Gott leben.
3 Alle Ordnungen sind umgestoßen,
was kann da noch der bewirken,
dem Gottes Ordnungen alles bedeuten?«
4 Der Herr ist in seinem heiligen Tempel,
er thront im Himmel und herrscht über alles.
Er durchschaut alle Menschen,
nichts entgeht seinem prüfenden Blick.
5 Er sieht sich jeden ganz genau an,
den, der Gott liebt, und den, der ihn verachtet.
Der Herr hasst den Gewalttätigen aus tiefster Seele.
6 Auf die Schuldigen wird er Feuer und Schwefel regnen lassen,
und der Glutwind wird sie versengen.
7 Der Herr ist zuverlässig und gerecht,
deshalb liebt er alle, die sich an das Recht halten
und aufrichtig nach seinem Willen leben;
sie werden ihn einst schauen.

Io confido nel Signore.
Voi, come potete dire all’anima mia:
«Fuggi al tuo monte come un uccello»?
2 Poiché, ecco, gli empi tendono l’arco,
aggiustano le loro frecce sulla corda
per tirarle nell’oscurità contro i retti di cuore.
3 Quando le fondamenta sono rovinate,
che cosa può fare il giusto?
4 Il Signore è nel suo tempio santo;
il Signore ha il suo trono nei cieli;
i suoi occhi vedono,
le sue pupille scrutano i figli degli uomini.
5 Il Signore scruta il giusto,
ma detesta l’empio e colui che ama la violenza.
6 Egli farà piovere sull’empio carboni accesi;
zolfo e vento infuocato sarà il contenuto del loro calice.
7 Poiché il Signore è giusto; egli ama la giustizia;
gli uomini retti contempleranno il suo volto.

1 In the Lord I take refuge.(A)
How then can you say to me:
“Flee(B) like a bird to your mountain.(C)
2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;(D)
they set their arrows(E) against the strings
to shoot from the shadows(F)
at the upright in heart.(G)
3 When the foundations(H) are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”
4 The Lord is in his holy temple;(I)
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.(J)
He observes everyone on earth;(K)
his eyes examine(L) them.
5 The Lord examines the righteous,(M)
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.(N)
6 On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;(O)
a scorching wind(P) will be their lot.

11 In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
4 The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
5 The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
