^12 (A)The ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint.

¹¹ They found an Egyptian in the open country and brought him to David. And they gave him bread and he ate. They gave him water to drink, ¹² and they gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. And when he had eaten, ^(A)his spirit revived, for he had not eaten bread or drunk water for three days and three nights.

¹⁸ And he was very thirsty, and he called upon the Lord and said, ^(A)“You have granted this great salvation by the hand of your servant, and shall I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?” ¹⁹ And God split open the hollow place that is ^(B)at Lehi, and water came out from it. And when he drank, ^(C)his spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkore;^[a] it is at Lehi to this day.
