6 You covered it with the deep
as if it were a garment;
the water stood above the mountains.(A)
7 At your rebuke the water fled;
at the sound of your thunder they hurried away(B) –
8 mountains rose and valleys sank[a] –
to the place you established for them.(C)

the waters stood(C) above the mountains.
7 But at your rebuke(D) the waters fled,

8 they flowed over the mountains,
they went down into the valleys,
to the place you assigned(F) for them.
