Psalm 104

The Lord’s Care over All His Works.

104 ^(A)Bless the Lord, my soul!
Lord my God, You are very great;
You are ^(B)clothed with splendor and majesty,
²Covering Yourself with ^(C)light as with a cloak,
^(D)Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.
³^[a]He ^(E)lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters;
^[b]He makes the ^(F)clouds His chariot;
^[c]He walks on the ^(G)wings of the wind;
⁴^[d]He makes ^[e]^(H)the winds His messengers,
^[f]Flaming ^(I)fire His ministers.

⁵He ^(J)established the earth upon its foundations,
So that it will not ^[g]totter forever and ever.
⁶You ^(K)covered it with the deep sea as with a garment;
The waters were standing above the mountains.
⁷They fled from Your ^(L)rebuke,
At the ^(M)sound of Your thunder they hurried away.
⁸The mountains rose; the valleys sank down
To the ^(N)place which You established for them.
⁹You set a ^(O)boundary so that they will not pass over,
So that they will not return to cover the earth.

¹⁰^[h]He sends forth ^(P)springs in the valleys;
They flow between the mountains;
¹¹They ^(Q)give drink to every animal of the field;
The ^(R)wild donkeys quench their thirst.
¹²The birds of the sky ^(S)dwell ^[i]beside them;
They ^[j]lift up their voices from among the branches.
¹³^[k]He ^(T)waters the mountains from His upper chambers;
^(U)The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.

¹⁴^[l]He causes the ^(V)grass to grow for the ^[m]cattle,
And ^(W)vegetation for the labor of mankind,
So that ^[n]they may produce ^[o]food ^(X)from the earth,
¹⁵And ^(Y)wine, which makes a human heart cheerful,
^(Z)So that he makes his face gleam with oil,
And ^[p]food, which ^(AA)sustains a human heart.
¹⁶The trees of the Lord ^[q]drink their fill,
The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
¹⁷Where the ^(AB)birds build their nests,
And the ^(AC)stork, whose home is the juniper trees.

¹⁸The high mountains are for the ^(AD)wild goats;
The ^(AE)cliffs are a refuge for the ^(AF)rock hyrax.
¹⁹He made the moon ^(AG)for the seasons;
The ^(AH)sun knows the place of its setting.
²⁰You ^(AI)appoint darkness and it becomes night,
In which all the ^(AJ)animals of the forest ^[r]prowl about.
²¹The ^(AK)young lions roar for their prey
^[s]And ^(AL)seek their food from God.
²²When the sun rises they withdraw,
And they lie down in their ^(AM)dens.
²³A person goes out to ^(AN)his work
And to his labor until evening.

²⁴Lord, how ^(AO)many are Your works!
^[t]In ^(AP)wisdom You have made them all;
The ^(AQ)earth is full of Your ^[u]possessions.
²⁵^[v]There is the ^(AR)sea, great and ^[w]broad,
In which are swarms without number,
Animals both small and great.
²⁶The ^(AS)ships move along there,
And ^[x]^(AT)Leviathan, which You have formed to have fun in it.

²⁷They all ^(AU)wait for You
To ^(AV)give them their food in ^[y]due season.
²⁸You give to them, they gather it up;
You ^(AW)open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.
²⁹You ^(AX)hide Your face, they are terrified;
You ^(AY)take away their breath, they perish
And ^(AZ)return to their dust.
³⁰You send forth Your ^[z]^(BA)Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the ground.

³¹May the ^(BB)glory of the Lord endure forever;
May the Lord ^(BC)rejoice in His works;
³²^[aa]He ^(BD)looks at the earth, and it ^(BE)trembles;
He ^(BF)touches the mountains, and they smoke.
³³^[ab]I will sing to the Lord ^[ac]^(BG)as long as I live;
^[ad]I will ^(BH)sing praise to my God ^[ae]while I have my being.
³⁴May my ^(BI)praise be pleasing to Him;
As for me, I shall ^(BJ)rejoice in the Lord.
³⁵May sinners be ^(BK)removed from the earth
And may the ^(BL)wicked be no more.

Psalm 114-115

God’s Rescue of Israel from Egypt.

114 When Israel went forth ^(A)from Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of a ^(B)foreign language,
²Judah became ^(C)His sanctuary;
Israel, ^(D)His dominion.

³The ^(E)sea looked and fled;
The ^(F)Jordan turned back.
⁴The mountains ^(G)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.
⁵What ^(H)ails you, sea, that you flee?
Jordan, that you turn back?
⁶Mountains, that you skip like rams?
Hills, like lambs?

⁷^(I)Tremble, earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,
⁸Who ^(J)turned the rock into a ^(K)pool of water,
The ^(L)flint into a fountain of water.

Heathen Idols Contrasted with the Lord.

115 ^(M)Not to us, Lord, not to us,
But ^(N)to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy, because of Your ^[a]truth.
²^(O)Why should the nations say,
“^(P)Where, then, is their God?”
³But our ^(Q)God is in the heavens;
He ^(R)does whatever He pleases.
⁴Their ^(S)idols are silver and gold,
The ^(T)work of human hands.
⁵They have mouths, but they ^(U)cannot speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;
⁶They have ears, but they cannot hear;
They have noses, but they cannot smell;
⁷^[b]They have hands, but they cannot feel;
^[c]They have feet, but they cannot walk;
They cannot make a sound with their throat.
⁸^(V)Those who make them ^[d]will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them.

⁹^(W)Israel, ^(X)trust in the Lord;
He is their ^(Y)help and their shield.
¹⁰House of ^(Z)Aaron, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
¹¹You who ^[e]^(AA)fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
¹²The Lord ^(AB)has been mindful of us; He will bless us.
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
¹³He will ^(AC)bless those who ^[f]fear the Lord,
^(AD)The small together with the great.
¹⁴May the Lord ^(AE)increase you,
You and your children.
¹⁵May you be blessed of the Lord,
^(AF)Maker of heaven and earth.

¹⁶The heavens are ^(AG)the heavens of the Lord,
But ^(AH)the earth He has given to the sons of mankind.
¹⁷The ^(AI)dead do not praise ^[g]the Lord,
Nor do any who go down into ^(AJ)silence;
¹⁸But as for us, we will ^(AK)bless ^[h]the Lord
From this time and forever.
