^9 (A)who saved us and ^(B)called us to^[a] a holy calling, ^(C)not because of our works but because of ^(D)his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus ^(E)before the ages began,^[b]

⁴ But^[a] God, being ^(A)rich in mercy, ^(B)because of the great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even ^(C)when we were dead in our trespasses, ^(D)made us alive together with Christ—^(E)by grace you have been saved— ⁶ and raised us up with him and ^(F)seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable ^(G)riches of his grace in ^(H)kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

⁶ but showing steadfast love to thousands^[a] of those who love me and keep my commandments.

¹⁷ For in it ^(A)the righteousness of God is revealed ^(B)from faith for faith,^{[a] (C)}as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”^[b]

Stand Firm

¹³ But ^(A)we ought always to give thanks to God for you, ^(B)brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you ^(C)as the firstfruits^{[a] (D)}to be saved, ^(E)through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. ¹⁴ To this he called you through ^(F)our gospel, ^(G)so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

^4 (A)even as he ^(B)chose us in him ^(C)before the foundation of the world, that we should be ^(D)holy and blameless before him. In love ^5 (E)he predestined us^[a] for ^(F)adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, ^(G)according to the purpose of his will, ^6 (H)to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in ^(I)the Beloved. ^7 (J)In him we have ^(K)redemption ^(L)through his blood, ^(M)the forgiveness of our trespasses, ^(N)according to the riches of his grace, ⁸ which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight

²⁸ And we know that for those who love God all things work together ^(A)for good,^[a] for ^(B)those who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For those whom he ^(C)foreknew he also ^(D)predestined ^(E)to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be ^(F)the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also ^(G)justified, and those whom he justified he also ^(H)glorified.
