⁴ The wicked are not like this;
instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.^(F)
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand up in the judgment,^(G)
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

⁶ For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,^(H)
but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.^(I)

⁴ The one enthroned^[c] in heaven laughs;
the Lord ridicules them.^(P)
5 Then he speaks to them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath:^(Q)
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”^(R)

⁷ I will declare the Lord’s decree.
He said to me, “You are my Son;^[d]
today I have become your Father.^(S)
8 Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance
and the ends of the earth your possession.^(T)
9 You will break them with an iron scepter;
you will shatter them like pottery.”^(U)

¹⁰ So now, kings, be wise;
receive instruction, you judges of the earth.
¹¹ Serve the Lord with reverential awe
and rejoice with trembling.^(V)
12 Pay homage to^[e] the Son or he will be angry
and you will perish in your rebellion,^[f](W)
for his anger may ignite at any moment.^(X)
All who take refuge in him are happy.^(Y)

² The one who lives blamelessly, practices righteousness,
and acknowledges the truth in his heart^(C)—
³ who does not slander with his tongue,^(D)
who does not harm his friend
or discredit his neighbor,^(E)
4 who despises the one rejected by the Lord^[a]
but honors those who fear the Lord,^(F)
who keeps his word whatever the cost,^(G)
5 who does not lend his silver at interest^(H)
or take a bribe against the innocent^(I)—
the one who does these things will never be shaken.^(J)

⁶ But I am a worm and not a man,^(H)
scorned by mankind and despised by people.^(I)
7 Everyone who sees me mocks me;
they sneer^[a] and shake their heads:^(J)
8 “He relies on^[b] the Lord;
let him save him;
let the Lord^[c] rescue him,
since he takes pleasure in him.”^(K)

⁹ It was you who brought me out of the womb,
making me secure at my mother’s breast.^(L)
10 I was given over to you at birth;^[d]
you have been my God from my mother’s womb.^(M)

¹¹ Don’t be far from me, because distress is near
and there’s no one to help.^(N)

¹² Many bulls surround me;
strong ones of Bashan encircle me.^(O)
13 They open their mouths against me—
lions, mauling and roaring.^(P)
14 I am poured out like water,^(Q)
and all my bones are disjointed;^(R)
my heart is like wax,

15 My strength is dried up like baked clay;^(T)
my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.^(U)
You put me into the dust of death.^(V)
16 For dogs have surrounded me;^(W)
a gang of evildoers has closed in on me;

17 I can count all my bones;
people^[f] look and stare at me.^(Y)
18 They divided my garments among themselves,
and they cast lots for my clothing.^(Z)

¹⁹ But you, Lord, don’t be far away.^(AA)
My strength, come quickly to help me.^(AB)
20 Rescue my life from the sword,^(AC)
my only life^[g] from the power of these dogs.
²¹ Save me from the lion’s mouth,^(AD)
from the horns of wild oxen.

22 I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters;
I will praise you in the assembly.^(AE)
23 You who fear the Lord, praise him!^(AF)
All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!

24 For he has not despised or abhorred
the torment of the oppressed.^(AH)

²⁵ I will give praise in the great assembly

I will fulfill my vows

and turn to the Lord.

29 All who prosper on earth will eat and bow down;
all those who go down to the dust

30 Their descendants will serve him;

31 They will come and declare his righteousness;
to a people yet to be born

in the presence of my enemies;

6 Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me

³ Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?

among them are young women

26 Bless God in the assemblies;

27 There is Benjamin, the youngest, leading them,
the rulers of Judah in their assembly,^[l]

Show your strength, God,

29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem,

34 Ascribe power to God.
His majesty is over Israel;

35 God, you are awe-inspiring in your sanctuaries.
The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
