⁸Lord our God, You ^(A)answered them;
You were a ^(B)forgiving God to them,
And yet an ^(C)avenger of their evil deeds.

you answered them;
you were to Israel a forgiving God,^(A)
though you punished^(B) their misdeeds.^[a]

⁸Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.
