5 (A)You will not fear (B)the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and (C)see the recompense of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your (D)dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my (E)refuge[a]—
10 (F)no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
(G)no plague come near your tent.
11 (H)For he will command his (I)angels concerning you
to (J)guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you (K)strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on (L)the lion and the (M)adder;
the young lion and (N)the serpent you will (O)trample underfoot.
14 “Because he (P)holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he (Q)knows my name.
15 When he (R)calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and (S)honor him.
16 With (T)long life I will satisfy him
and (U)show him my salvation.”

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.(B)
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm(C) will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels(D) concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;(E)
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.(F)
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.(G)
