72 O God, give the king ^(A)Your judgments,
And ^(B)Your righteousness to the king’s son.
^2 [a]May ^[b]he ^(C)render judgment to Your people with righteousness
And ^(D)Your ^[c]afflicted with justice.
³ Let the mountains lift up ^[d](E)peace to the people,
And the hills, in righteousness.
^4 [e]May he ^(F)give justice to the ^[f]afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy,
And crush the oppressor.

⁶ For a ^(A)child will be born to us, a ^(B)son will be given to us;
And the ^(C)government will ^[a]rest ^(D)on His shoulders;
And His name will be called ^(E)Wonderful Counselor, ^(F)Mighty God,
Eternal ^(G)Father, Prince of ^(H)Peace.
⁷ There will be ^(I)no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the ^(J)throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with ^(K)justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
^(L)The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will accomplish this.

⁴ But with ^(A)righteousness He will judge the ^(B)poor,
And decide with uprightness for the ^(C)afflicted of the earth;
And He will strike the earth with the ^(D)rod of His mouth,
And with the ^(E)breath of His lips He will put the wicked to death.
⁵ Also ^(F)righteousness will be the belt about His loins,
And ^(G)faithfulness the belt about His waist.

⁵ “Behold, the ^(A)days are coming,” declares Yahweh,
“When I will raise up for David a righteous ^[a](B)Branch;
And He will ^(C)reign as king and ^[b]prosper
And ^(D)do justice and righteousness in the land.

^9 (A)Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Make a loud shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your ^(B)king is coming to you;
He is ^[a](C)righteous and ^(D)endowed with salvation,
^[b](E)Lowly and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a ^[c](F)colt, the ^[d]foal of a pack animal.
