Psalm 67

New International Version

Psalm 67^[a]

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song.

¹May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us—^[b]^(A)
²so that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation^(B) among all nations.^(C)

³May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.^(D)
⁴May the nations be glad and sing for joy,^(E)
    for you rule the peoples with equity^(F)
    and guide the nations of the earth.^(G)
⁵May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.

⁶The land yields its harvest;^(H)
God, our God, blesses us.^(I)
⁷May God bless us still,
so that all the ends of the earth^(J) will fear him.^(K)

    and fair—every good path.

    and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
¹¹Discretion will protect you,
    and understanding will guard you.^(C)

¹²Wisdom will save^(D) you from the ways of wicked men,
    from men whose words are perverse,
¹³who have left the straight paths

¹⁴who delight in doing wrong
    and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,^(F)

Luke 19:1-10

New International Version

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector

19 Jesus entered Jericho^(A) and was passing through. ²A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. ³He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. ⁴So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig^(B) tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.^(C)

⁵When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” ⁶So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

⁷All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”^(D)

⁸But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,^(E) “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything,^(F) I will pay back four times the amount.”^(G)

⁹Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.^(H) ¹⁰For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”^(I)
