Psalm 50:15-51:13

New International Version

¹⁵ and call^(A) on me in the day of trouble;^(B)
    I will deliver^(C) you, and you will honor^(D) me.”

“What right have you to recite my laws
    or take my covenant^(E) on your lips?^(F)
17 You hate^(G) my instruction
    and cast my words behind^(H) you.
¹⁸ When you see a thief, you join^(I) with him;
    you throw in your lot with adulterers.^(J)
19 You use your mouth for evil
    and harness your tongue to deceit.^(K)
20 You sit and testify against your brother^(L)
    and slander your own mother’s son.
²¹ When you did these things and I kept silent,^(M)
    you thought I was exactly^[a] like you.
But I now arraign^(N) you
    and set my accusations^(O) before you.

²² “Consider this, you who forget God,^(P)
    or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:^(Q)
23 Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me,
    and to the blameless^[b] I will show my salvation.^(R)”

³ For I know my transgressions,
    and my sin is always before me.^(AA)
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned^(AB)
    and done what is evil in your sight;^(AC)
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.^(AD)
5 Surely I was sinful^(AE) at birth,^(AF)
    sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
⁶ Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
    you taught me wisdom^(AG) in that secret place.^(AH)

⁷ Cleanse^(AI) me with hyssop,^(AJ) and I will be clean;
    wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.^(AK)
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;^(AL)
    let the bones^(AM) you have crushed rejoice.
⁹ Hide your face from my sins^(AN)
    and blot out^(AO) all my iniquity.

¹⁰ Create in me a pure heart,^(AP) O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.^(AQ)
11 Do not cast me^(AR) from your presence^(AS)
    or take your Holy Spirit^(AT) from me.
¹² Restore to me the joy of your salvation^(AU)
    and grant me a willing spirit,^(AV) to sustain me.^(AW)

¹³ Then I will teach transgressors your ways,^(AX)
    so that sinners^(AY) will turn back to you.^(AZ)
