Psalm 42
For the choir director: A psalm[a] of the descendants of Korah.
1 As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God.
2 I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before him?
3 Day and night I have only tears for food,
while my enemies continually taunt me, saying,
“Where is this God of yours?”
4 My heart is breaking
as I remember how it used to be:
I walked among the crowds of worshipers,
leading a great procession to the house of God,
singing for joy and giving thanks
amid the sound of a great celebration!
5 Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and 6 my God!
Now I am deeply discouraged,
but I will remember you—
even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan,
from the land of Mount Mizar.
7 I hear the tumult of the raging seas
as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.
8 But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me,
and through each night I sing his songs,
praying to God who gives me life.
9 “O God my rock,” I cry,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I wander around in grief,
oppressed by my enemies?”
10 Their taunts break my bones.
They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?”
11 Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and my God!

Ang Handom sa Usa ka Tawo nga Makaduol sa Ginoo
42 Sama sa mananap nga lagsaw nga gihidlaw sa tubig sa sapa,
gihidlaw usab ako kanimo, O Dios.
2 Giuhaw ako kanimo, O buhi nga Dios.
Kanus-a pa kaha ako makaadto sa imong templo sa pag-atubang kanimo?
3 Adlaw ug gabii grabe ang akong hilak.
Nagasigeg pangutana ang mga tawo kanako, “Asa na man ang imong Dios?”
4 Masubo ako inigmahinumdoman ko nga kaniadto gipangulohan ko ang daghang mga tawo sa pag-adto sa imong templo,
ug nagasaulog kami nga may paghugyaw sa kalipay ug pagpasalamat kanimo.
5 Nganong maguol man ako ug mabalaka?
Kinahanglan mosalig ako kanimo ug dayegon ko ikaw pag-usab,
ikaw nga akong manluluwas ug Dios.
6-7 Naguol ako pag-ayo;
mora ako ug gitabonan sa imong mga balod nga daw nagahaguros nga busay.
Busa gihinumdoman ko ikaw dinhi sa yuta sa Jordan ug Hermon, sa Bukid sa Mizar.
8 Sa adlaw ginapakita mo, Ginoo, ang imong gugma,
busa sa gabii nagaawit ako isip pag-ampo kanimo, O Dios sa akong kinabuhi.
9 O Dios nga akong salipdanan nga bato, moingon ako kanimo,
“Nganong gikalimtan mo ako?
Nganong kinahanglan pa man nga magsubo ako tungod sa pagpangdaog-daog sa akong mga kaaway?”
10 Daw madugmok ang akong kabukogan sa pagbiaybiay nila kanako adlaw-adlaw nga nagaingon,
“Asa na man ang imong Dios?”
11 Nganong maguol ug mabalaka man ako?
Kinahanglan mosalig ako kanimo, ug dayegon ko ikaw pag-usab, ikaw nga akong Manluluwas ug Dios.

1 As the deer(A) pants for streams of water,(B)
so my soul pants(C) for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts(D) for God, for the living God.(E)
When can I go(F) and meet with God?
3 My tears(G) have been my food
day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”(H)
4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:(I)
how I used to go to the house of God(J)
under the protection of the Mighty One[d]
with shouts of joy(K) and praise(L)
among the festive throng.(M)
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?(N)
Why so disturbed(O) within me?
Put your hope in God,(P)
for I will yet praise(Q) him,
my Savior(R) and my God.(S)
6 My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember(T) you
from the land of the Jordan,(U)
the heights of Hermon(V)—from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep(W)
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.(X)
8 By day the Lord directs his love,(Y)
at night(Z) his song(AA) is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.(AB)
9 I say to God my Rock,(AC)
“Why have you forgotten(AD) me?
Why must I go about mourning,(AE)
oppressed(AF) by the enemy?”(AG)
10 My bones suffer mortal agony(AH)
as my foes taunt(AI) me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”(AJ)
11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
