⁴ Take delight^(A) in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.^(B)

⁵ Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him^(C) and he will do this:
⁶ He will make your righteous reward^(D) shine like the dawn,^(E)
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

⁷ Be still^(F) before the Lord
    and wait patiently^(G) for him;
do not fret^(H) when people succeed in their ways,^(I)
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.^(J)

⁸ Refrain from anger^(K) and turn from wrath;
    do not fret^(L)—it leads only to evil.
⁹ For those who are evil will be destroyed,^(M)
    but those who hope^(N) in the Lord will inherit the land.^(O)

¹⁰ A little while, and the wicked will be no more;^(P)
    though you look for them, they will not be found.
¹¹ But the meek will inherit the land^(Q)
    and enjoy peace and prosperity.^(R)

¹² The wicked plot^(S) against the righteous
    and gnash their teeth^(T) at them;
¹³ but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
    for he knows their day is coming.^(U)

¹⁴ The wicked draw the sword^(V)
    and bend the bow^(W)
to bring down the poor and needy,^(X)
    to slay those whose ways are upright.
