5 I (A)acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I (B)will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
6 Therefore let everyone who is (C)godly
offer prayer to you at a time when you (D)may be found;
surely in the rush of (E)great waters,
they shall not reach him.
7 You are a (F)hiding place for me;
you preserve me from (G)trouble;
you surround me with (H)shouts of deliverance. Selah
8 I will (I)instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will (J)counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 (K)Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
which must be curbed with (L)bit and bridle,
or it will not stay near you.
10 (M)Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who (N)trusts in the Lord.
11 (O)Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and (P)shout for joy, all you (Q)upright in heart!

And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.(D)
6 Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
while you may be found;(E)
surely the rising(F) of the mighty waters(G)
will not reach them.(H)
7 You are my hiding place;(I)
you will protect me from trouble(J)
and surround me with songs of deliverance.(K)
8 I will instruct(L) you and teach you(M) in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on(N) you.
9 Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle(O)
or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,(P)
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts(Q) in him.
11 Rejoice in the Lord(R) and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
