Psalm 28:4-30:12
English Standard Version
4 (A)Give to them according to their work
and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
(B)render them their due reward.
5 Because they (C)do not regard the works of the Lord
or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.
6 Blessed be the Lord!
For he has (D)heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and (E)my shield;
in him my heart (F)trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my (G)song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;[a]
he is (H)the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 Oh, save your people and bless (I)your heritage!
(J)Be their shepherd and (K)carry them forever.
Ascribe to the Lord Glory
A Psalm of David.
29 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,[b]
(L)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in (M)the splendor of holiness.[c]
3 The voice of the Lord is over (N)the waters;
the God of glory (O)thunders,
the Lord, over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is (P)powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks (Q)the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon to (R)skip like a calf,
and (S)Sirion like a young (T)wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of (U)Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord makes (V)the deer give birth[d]
and strips the forests bare,
and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
10 The Lord sits enthroned over (W)the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned (X)as king forever.
11 May the Lord give (Y)strength to his people!
May the Lord bless[e] his people with (Z)peace!
Joy Comes with the Morning
A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of (AA)the temple.
30 I will (AB)extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes (AC)rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I (AD)cried to you for help,
and you have (AE)healed me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from (AF)Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who (AG)go down to the pit.[f]
4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you (AH)his saints,
and (AI)give thanks to his holy name.[g]
5 (AJ)For his anger is but for a moment,
and (AK)his favor is for a lifetime.[h]
(AL)Weeping may tarry for the night,
but (AM)joy comes with the morning.
6 As for me, I said in my (AN)prosperity,
“I shall never be (AO)moved.”
7 By your favor, O Lord,
you made my (AP)mountain stand strong;
you (AQ)hid your face;
I was (AR)dismayed.
8 To you, O Lord, I cry,
and (AS)to the Lord I plead for mercy:
9 “What profit is there in my death,[i]
if I go down to the pit?[j]
Will (AT)the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 (AU)Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
O Lord, be my helper!”
11 You have turned for me my mourning into (AV)dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my (AW)glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
