Psalm 17
Authorized (King James) Version
Psalm 17
A Prayer of David.
1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry,
give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence;
let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night;
thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing;
I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips
I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God:
incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness,
O thou that savest by thy right hand
them which put their trust in thee
from those that rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye,
hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
9 from the wicked that oppress me,
from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
10 They are inclosed in their own fat:
with their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now compassed us in our steps:
they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
12 like as a lion that is greedy of his prey,
and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down:
deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
14 from men which are thy hand, O Lord,
from men of the world, which have their portion in this life,
and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure:
they are full of children,
and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness:
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Psalm 17
A Prayer of David.
1 Hear a just cause, O Lord,
attend to my cry;
give ear to my prayer
that is not spoken from deceitful lips.
2 May my sentence go out from Your presence;
may Your eyes see rightly.
3 You have examined my heart; You have visited me in the night;
You have tried me and found nothing;
I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men,
by the word of Your lips
I have avoided
the paths of the violent,
5 placing my steps in Your paths,
that my footsteps do not slip.
6 I called on You, for You will answer me, O God;
incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
7 Show marvelously Your lovingkindness,
O Deliverer of those who seek refuge
by Your right hand from those who arise in opposition.
8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye;
hide me under the shadow of Your wings,
9 from the wicked who bring ruin to me,
from my deadly enemies who surround me.
10 They close their hard hearts;
with their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now encircled us in our steps;
they have set their eyes to bend down to the earth;
12 it is like a lion that is anxious to rip its prey,
and as a young lion lurking in secrecy.
13 Arise, O Lord! Confront him, cast him down!
Deliver my soul from the wicked by Your sword,
14 from men by Your hand, O Lord,
from men of the world whose portion is in this life.
You fill their belly with Your treasure;
they are satisfied with children,
and they leave their abundance to their infants.
15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness;
I will be satisfied when I awake with Your likeness.

Plegaria que pide la protección de Dios
Oración de David.
17 Señor, ¡escúchame!
¡Atiende mi clamor de justicia!
¡Presta oído a mi oración,
pues no brota de labios mentirosos!
2 ¡Sé tú quien me reivindique!
¡Posa tus ojos en mi rectitud!
3 Tú has examinado mi corazón;
por las noches has venido a verme.
¡Ponme a prueba, que nada malo hallarás!
¡Nada malo han pronunciado mis labios!
4 Yo no hago lo que otros hacen;
al contrario, tomo en cuenta tus palabras
y me alejo de caminos de violencia.
5 Sostén mis pasos en tus sendas
para que mis pies no resbalen.
6 Dios mío, yo te invoco porque tú me respondes;
¡inclina a mí tu oído, y escucha mis palabras!
y profieren palabras insolentes.
11 Me tienen rodeado por completo,
y sólo esperan verme caer por tierra.
12 Parecen leones que esperan a su presa;
15 A mí me bastará con ver tu rostro de justicia;
¡satisfecho estaré al despertar y contemplarte!
