Psalm 149
Praise for God’s Goodness to Israel
1 Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
his praise in the assembly of the faithful.(A)
2 Let Israel be glad in its Maker;
let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.(B)
3 Let them praise his name with dancing,
making melody to him with tambourine and lyre.(C)
4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with victory.(D)
5 Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy on their couches.(E)
6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats
and two-edged swords in their hands,(F)
7 to execute vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with fetters
and their nobles with chains of iron,
9 to execute on them the judgment decreed.
This is glory for all his faithful ones.

Praise for God’s Surpassing Greatness
1 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty firmament![a](H)
2 Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his surpassing greatness!(I)
3 Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!(J)
4 Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!(K)
5 Praise him with clanging cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!(L)
6 Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!

4 For the Lord takes delight(I) in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.(J)
5 Let his faithful people rejoice(K) in this honor
and sing for joy on their beds.(L)
6 May the praise of God be in their mouths(M)
and a double-edged(N) sword in their hands,(O)
7 to inflict vengeance(P) on the nations
and punishment(Q) on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with fetters,(R)
their nobles with shackles of iron,(S)
9 to carry out the sentence written against them—(T)
this is the glory of all his faithful people.(U)

2 Praise him for his acts of power;(Y)
praise him for his surpassing greatness.(Z)
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,(AA)
praise him with the harp and lyre,(AB)
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,(AC)
praise him with the strings(AD) and pipe,(AE)
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,(AF)
praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything(AG) that has breath praise the Lord.
