Psalm 140:3-5
World English Bible

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.
    Viper’s poison is under their lips. Selah.
4 Yahweh, keep me from the hands of the wicked.
    Preserve me from the violent men who have determined to trip my feet.
5 The proud have hidden a snare for me,
    they have spread the cords of a net by the path.
    They have set traps for me. Selah.

New International Version

3 They make their tongues as sharp as(A) a serpent’s;
    the poison of vipers(B) is on their lips.[a]

4 Keep me safe,(C) Lord, from the hands of the wicked;(D)
    protect me from the violent,
    who devise ways to trip my feet.
5 The arrogant have hidden a snare(E) for me;
    they have spread out the cords of their net(F)
    and have set traps(G) for me along my path.
