The work of man’s hands.

A goldsmith ^(B)plates it with gold,
And a silversmith fashions chains of silver.
²⁰ He who is too impoverished to make such a contribution
Chooses a ^(C)tree that does not rot;
He seeks out for himself a wise craftsman
To ^[a]prepare a graven image that ^(D)will not be shaken.

¹⁹ Woe to him who ^(A)says to a piece of wood, ‘^(B)Awake!’
To a mute stone, ‘Arise!’
And that is your teacher?
Behold, it is overlaid with ^(C)gold and silver,
And there is ^(D)no breath at all inside it.
