⁴ In his pride the wicked man does not seek him;
    in all his thoughts there is no room for God.^(A)

¹¹ They will stretch out their hands in it,
    as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim.
God will bring down^(A) their pride^(B)
    despite the cleverness^[a] of their hands.

²⁹ “We have heard of Moab’s pride^(A)—
    how great is her arrogance!—
of her insolence, her pride, her conceit
    and the haughtiness^(B) of her heart.

¹⁶ The terror you inspire
    and the pride^(A) of your heart have deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks,^(B)
    who occupy the heights of the hill.
Though you build your nest^(C) as high as the eagle’s,
    from there I will bring you down,”
declares the Lord.

¹⁰ This is what they will get in return for their pride,^(A)
    for insulting^(B) and mocking
    the people of the Lord Almighty.^(C)
