Psalmul 2
1 De ce se întărâtă[a] neamurile
şi de ce cugetă popoarele lucruri deşarte[b]?
2 Regii pământului iau poziţie
şi conducătorii se strâng laolaltă
împotriva Domnului şi împotriva Unsului[c] Său, zicând:
3 „Să rupem legăturile Lor
şi să aruncăm funiile Lor de pe noi!“
4 Cel Ce tronează în ceruri râde;
Stăpânul îşi bate joc de ei.
5 Apoi le vorbeşte în mânia Lui
şi-i îngrozeşte în furia Lui, zicând:
6 „Totuşi Eu Însumi L-am înscăunat pe Împăratul[d] Meu peste Sion,
muntele Meu cel sfânt.“
7 Voi vesti hotărârea Domnului:
El Mi-a zis: „Tu eşti Fiul[e] Meu!
Astăzi Te-am născut!
8 Cere-Mi
şi-Ţi voi da neamurile drept moştenire
şi marginile pământului în stăpânire!
9 Tu le vei zdrobi[f] cu un toiag de fier
şi le vei sfărâma ca pe vasul unui olar!“
10 De aceea, regilor, purtaţi-vă cu înţelepciune!
Judecători ai pământului, luaţi învăţătură!
11 Slujiţi Domnului cu frică
şi bucuraţi-vă tremurând!
12 Daţi sărutare Fiului[g],
ca nu cumva să se mânie şi să pieriţi pe cale,
căci mânia Lui este gata să se aprindă!
Ferice de toţi cei ce-şi găsesc refugiul în El!

2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

And the people plot a [c]vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the (C)rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His (D)Anointed,[d] saying,
3 “Let (E)us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens (F)shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have [e]set My King
[f]On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the [g]decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
(G)‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 (H)You shall [h]break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
12 [i]Kiss the Son, lest [j]He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When (I)His wrath is kindled but a little.

and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his (C)Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us (D)burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who (E)sits in the heavens (F)laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his (G)wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have (H)set my King
