²⁹ But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, ^(A)not ^[a]understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.

³⁵ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

¹¹ Now these were more noble-minded than those in ^(A)Thessalonica, ^[a]for they received the word with ^[b]great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

¹³ For this reason we also constantly ^(A)thank God that when you received the ^(B)word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it ^(C)not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, ^(D)which also performs its work in you who believe.

¹² For ^(A)the word of God is ^(B)living and ^(C)active and sharper than any two-edged ^(D)sword, and piercing as far as the division of ^(E)soul and ^(F)spirit, of both joints and marrow, and ^(G)able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

^19 [a]So we have ^(A)the prophetic word made more ^(B)sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to ^(C)a lamp shining in a dark place, until the ^(D)day dawns and the ^(E)morning star arises ^(F)in your hearts. ²⁰ But ^(G)know this first of all, that ^(H)no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, ²¹ for ^(I)no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men ^(J)moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
