⁴ The King^(A) is mighty, he loves justice^(B)—
    you have established equity;^(C)
in Jacob you have done
    what is just and right.^(D)

⁷ For the Lord is righteous,^(A)
    he loves justice;^(B)
    the upright^(C) will see his face.^(D)

⁵ “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
    “when I will raise up for David^[a] a righteous Branch,^(A)
a King^(B) who will reign^(C) wisely
    and do what is just and right^(D) in the land.

He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,^(B)
    or decide by what he hears with his ears;^(C)
4 but with righteousness^(D) he will judge the needy,^(E)
    with justice^(F) he will give decisions for the poor^(G) of the earth.
He will strike^(H) the earth with the rod of his mouth;^(I)
    with the breath^(J) of his lips he will slay the wicked.^(K)
5 Righteousness will be his belt^(L)
    and faithfulness^(M) the sash around his waist.^(N)

⁷ Of the greatness of his government^(A) and peace^(B)
    there will be no end.^(C)
He will reign^(D) on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
    with justice^(E) and righteousness^(F)
    from that time on and forever.^(G)
The zeal^(H) of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.

⁶ Your throne, O God,^[a] will last for ever and ever;^(A)
    a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
⁷ You love righteousness^(B) and hate wickedness;^(C)
    therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
    by anointing^(D) you with the oil of joy.^(E)

²³ The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;^(A)
    in his justice^(B) and great righteousness, he does not oppress.^(C)
