¹⁹ Then God’s temple^(A) in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant.^(B) And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder,^(C) an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.^(D)

¹⁶ On the morning of the third day there was thunder^(A) and lightning, with a thick cloud^(B) over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast.^(C) Everyone in the camp trembled.^{(D) 17} Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.^{(E) 18} Mount Sinai was covered with smoke,^(F) because the Lord descended on it in fire.^(G) The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace,^(H) and the whole mountain^[a] trembled^(I) violently.

The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

¹¹ I saw heaven standing open^(A) and there before me was a white horse, whose rider^(B) is called Faithful and True.^(C) With justice he judges and wages war.^(D)

² There was a violent earthquake,^(A) for an angel^(B) of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone^(C) and sat on it. ³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.^(D)

⁵⁰ And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.^(A)

⁵¹ At that moment the curtain of the temple^(B) was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split^(C)
