⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living; so ^(A)the plague was stopped.

⁶ And you will hear of ^(A)wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for ^[a]all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁷ For ^(B)nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be ^(C)famines, ^[b]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn^(A)

^29 (B)And it came to pass at midnight that ^(C)the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was ^[a]in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of ^(D)livestock. ³⁰ So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

³ all ate the same ^(A)spiritual food, ⁴ and all drank the same ^(B)spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. ⁵ But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies ^(C)were scattered in the wilderness.

⁶ Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as ^(D)they also lusted. ^7 (E)And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, ^(F)“The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” ^8 (G)Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as ^(H)some of them did, and ^(I)in one day twenty-three thousand fell; ⁹ nor let us ^[a]tempt Christ, as ^(J)some of them also tempted, and ^(K)were destroyed by serpents; ¹⁰ nor complain, as ^(L)some of them also complained, and ^(M)were destroyed by ^(N)the destroyer.

Sennacherib’s Defeat and Death^(A)

³⁵ And ^(B)it came to pass on a certain night that the ^[a]angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.

¹⁵ So ^(A)the Lord sent a plague upon Israel from the morning till the appointed time. From Dan to Beersheba seventy thousand men of the people died.
