¹⁴ And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for ^(A)signs and for ^(B)seasons,^[a] and for days and years, ¹⁵ and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. ¹⁶ And God ^(C)made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. ¹⁷ And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, ¹⁸ to ^(D)rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

¹³ I have set ^(A)my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. ¹⁴ When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, ^15 (B)I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. ¹⁶ When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember ^(C)the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
