¹⁰ Now in the days of Saul they made war ^(A)with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they dwelt in their tents throughout the entire area east of Gilead.

¹⁰ And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir—whom You ^(A)would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but ^(B)they turned from them and did not destroy them— ¹¹ here they are, rewarding us ^(C)by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit.

Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir Defeated

20 It happened after this that the people of ^(A)Moab with the people of ^(B)Ammon, and others with them besides the ^(C)Ammonites,^[a] came to battle against Jehoshaphat.

¹⁹ They made war with the Hagrites, ^(A)Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab. ²⁰ And ^(B)they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them, for they ^(C)cried out to God in the battle. He ^[a]heeded their prayer, because they ^(D)put their trust in Him.

The Families of Ishmael and Isaac^(A)

¹² Now this is the ^(B)genealogy of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s maidservant, bore to Abraham. ¹³ And ^(C)these were the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, ¹⁴ Mishma, Dumah, Massa, ^15 [a]Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. ¹⁶ These were the sons of Ishmael and these were their names, by their towns and their ^[b]settlements, ^(D)twelve princes according to their nations. ¹⁷ These were the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred and thirty-seven years; and ^(E)he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people. ^18 (F)(They dwelt from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt as you go toward Assyria.) He ^[c]died ^(G)in the presence of all his brethren.
