¹⁶ Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;^(A)
    at your rebuke^(B) your people perish.

¹¹ When you rebuke^(A) and discipline^(B) anyone for their sin,
    you consume^(C) their wealth like a moth^(D)—
    surely everyone is but a breath.^(E)

¹¹ When its twigs are dry, they are broken off^(A)
    and women come and make fires^(B) with them.
For this is a people without understanding;^(C)
    so their Maker has no compassion on them,
    and their Creator^(D) shows them no favor.^(E)

⁷ We are consumed by your anger
    and terrified by your indignation.

⁵ How long,^(A) Lord? Will you be angry^(B) forever?
    How long will your jealousy burn like fire?^(C)

⁶ At your rebuke,^(A) God of Jacob,
    both horse and chariot^(B) lie still.

⁷ It is you alone who are to be feared.^(C)
    Who can stand^(D) before you when you are angry?^(E)
