¹⁶ And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;^{(A) 17} but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,^(B) for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”^(C)

⁶ And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me,^(A) and I can give it to anyone I want to. ⁷ If you worship me, it will all be yours.”

² in which you used to live^(A) when you followed the ways of this world^(B) and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air,^(C) the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.^(D)

⁶ And God raised us up with Christ^(A) and seated us with him^(B) in the heavenly realms^(C) in Christ Jesus, ⁷ in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace,^(D) expressed in his kindness^(E) to us in Christ Jesus.
