Psalm 78:58-72

⁵⁸For they ^(A)provoked him to anger with their ^(B)high places;
    they ^(C)moved him to jealousy with their ^(D)idols.
⁵⁹When God heard, he was full of ^(E)wrath,
    and he utterly rejected Israel.
⁶⁰He ^(F)forsook his dwelling at ^(G)Shiloh,
    the tent where he dwelt among mankind,
⁶¹and delivered his ^(H)power to captivity,
    his ^(I)glory to the hand of the foe.
⁶²He ^(J)gave his people over to the sword
    and ^(K)vented his wrath on his heritage.
⁶³^(L)Fire devoured their young men,
    and their young women had no ^(M)marriage song.
⁶⁴Their ^(N)priests fell by the sword,
    and their ^(O)widows made no lamentation.
⁶⁵Then the Lord ^(P)awoke as from sleep,
    like a strong man shouting because of wine.
⁶⁶And he ^(Q)put his adversaries to rout;
    he put them to everlasting shame.

⁶⁷He rejected the tent of ^(R)Joseph;
    he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
⁶⁸but he chose the tribe of Judah,
    Mount Zion, which he ^(S)loves.
⁶⁹He ^(T)built his sanctuary like the high heavens,
    like the earth, which he has founded forever.
⁷⁰He ^(U)chose David his servant
    and took him from the sheepfolds;
⁷¹from ^(V)following the nursing ewes he brought him
    to ^(W)shepherd Jacob his people,
    Israel his ^(X)inheritance.
⁷²With ^(Y)upright heart he shepherded them
    and ^(Z)guided them with his skillful hand.
