Psalm 78:37-41

³⁷ For their heart was not ^(A)steadfast toward Him,
Nor were they faithful with His covenant.
³⁸ But He, being ^(B)compassionate, ^[a](C)forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them;
And often He ^[b](D)restrained His anger
And did not stir up all His wrath.
³⁹ So ^(E)He remembered that they were only ^(F)flesh,
A ^[c](G)wind that passes and does not return.

⁴⁰ How often they ^(H)rebelled against Him in the wilderness
And ^(I)grieved Him in the ^(J)desert!
⁴¹ Again and again they ^[d](K)tempted God,
And pained the ^(L)Holy One of Israel.
