¹⁵ who ^(A)led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, ^(B)with its fiery serpents and scorpions ^(C)and thirsty ground where there was no water, ^(D)who brought you water out of the flinty rock,

Moses Strikes the Rock

¹⁰ Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, ^(A)“Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, ^(B)and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.

^8 (A)“Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So ^(B)you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.”

²¹ Then ^(A)I took the sinful thing, the calf that you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust. And I threw the dust of it into the brook that ran down from the mountain.
