^9 (A)The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise ^(B)as some count slowness, but ^(C)is patient toward you,^{[a] (D)}not wishing that any should perish, but ^(E)that all should reach repentance.

⁶ But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,

²⁵ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that ^(A)you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’

^34 (A)According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, ^(B)forty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’
