The Cup of God’s Wrath

¹⁵ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me: “Take from my hand this cup^(A) filled with the wine of my wrath and make all the nations to whom I send^(B) you drink it.

¹⁹ The great city^(A) split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered^(B) Babylon the Great^(C) and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.^(D)

⁹ A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast^(A) and its image^(B) and receives its mark on their forehead^(C) or on their hand, ¹⁰ they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury,^(D) which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.^(E) They will be tormented with burning sulfur^(F) in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.

²⁷ “Then tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk^(A) and vomit, and fall to rise no more because of the sword^(B) I will send among you.’ ²⁸ But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink^(C), tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: You must drink it!

¹⁷ So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and made all the nations to whom he sent^(A) me drink it:
