¹³ It was you who split open the sea^(A) by your power;
    you broke the heads of the monster^(B) in the waters.

“‘I am against you, Pharaoh^(A) king of Egypt,
    you great monster^(B) lying among your streams.
You say, “The Nile^(C) belongs to me;
    I made it for myself.”

¹³ He divided the sea^(A) and led them through;
    he made the water stand up like a wall.^(B)

“‘You are like a lion^(B) among the nations;
    you are like a monster^(C) in the seas^(D)
thrashing about in your streams,
    churning the water with your feet
    and muddying the streams.^(E)

⁹ Awake, awake,^(A) arm^(B) of the Lord,
    clothe yourself with strength!^(C)
Awake, as in days gone by,
    as in generations of old.^(D)
Was it not you who cut Rahab^(E) to pieces,
    who pierced that monster^(F) through?
¹⁰ Was it not you who dried up the sea,^(G)
    the waters of the great deep,^(H)
who made a road in the depths of the sea^(I)
    so that the redeemed^(J) might cross over?

¹⁵ The Lord will dry up^(A)
    the gulf of the Egyptian sea;
with a scorching wind^(B) he will sweep his hand^(C)
    over the Euphrates River.^(D)
He will break it up into seven streams
    so that anyone can cross over in sandals.^(E)
16 There will be a highway^(F) for the remnant^(G) of his people
    that is left from Assyria,^(H)
as there was for Israel
    when they came up from Egypt.^(I)

¹³ to him who divided the Red Sea^[a](A) asunder
His love endures forever.
¹⁴ and brought Israel through^(B) the midst of it,
His love endures forever.
¹⁵ but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;^(C)
His love endures forever.

¹⁶ to him who led his people through the wilderness;^(D)
His love endures forever.

¹⁷ to him who struck down great kings,^(E)
His love endures forever.
¹⁸ and killed mighty kings^(F)—
His love endures forever.

⁸ Yet he saved them^(A) for his name’s sake,^(B)
    to make his mighty power^(C) known.
⁹ He rebuked^(D) the Red Sea, and it dried up;^(E)
    he led them through^(F) the depths as through a desert.
