^4 (A)More in number than the hairs of my head

mighty are those who would destroy me,

What I did not steal
    must I now restore?

^19 (A)Let not those rejoice over me
    who are ^(B)wrongfully my foes,
and let not those ^(C)wink the eye
    who ^(D)hate me ^(E)without cause.

^4 (A)Surely he has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
    ^(B)smitten by God, and afflicted.
^5 (C)But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    ^(D)and with his wounds we are healed.
^6 (E)All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned—every one—to his own way;
^(F)and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
    ^(G)yet he opened not his mouth;
^(H)like a ^(I)lamb that is led to the slaughter,
    and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
    so he opened not his mouth.

^11 (A)Malicious^[a] witnesses rise up;
    they ask me of things that I do not know.
^12 (B)They repay me evil for good;
    my soul is bereft.^[b]

³ O Lord my God, ^(A)if I have done this,
    if there is ^(B)wrong in my hands,
⁴ if I have repaid ^(C)my friend^[a] with evil
    or ^(D)plundered my enemy without cause,
⁵ let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,
    and let him ^(E)trample my life to the ground
    and lay my glory in the dust. Selah
