²² May the table set before them become a snare;
    may it become retribution and^[a] a trap.^(A)

“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
    eyes that could not see
    and ears that could not hear,^(A)
to this very day.”^[a](B)

    a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
¹⁰ May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,^(C)
    and their backs be bent forever.”^[b](D)

“A stone that causes people to stumble
    and a rock that makes them fall.”^[a](A)

³² For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
    and the complacency of fools will destroy them;^(A)

¹⁴ He will be a holy place;^(A)
    for both Israel and Judah he will be
a stone^(B) that causes people to stumble^(C)
    and a rock that makes them fall.^(D)
And for the people of Jerusalem he will be
    a trap and a snare.^(E)
15 Many of them will stumble;^(F)
    they will fall and be broken,
    they will be snared and captured.”
