¹ Save me, O God,
    for the waters have come up to my neck.^(A)

¹⁴ rescue me
    from sinking in the mire;
let me be delivered from my enemies
    and from the deep waters.^(A)
15 Do not let the flood sweep over me
    or the deep swallow me up
    or the Pit close its mouth over me.^(B)

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,
    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
    and the flame shall not consume you.^(A)

⁵⁴ water closed over my head;
    I said, “I am lost.”^(A)

³ You cast me into the deep,
    into the heart of the seas,
    and the flood surrounded me;
all your waves and your billows
    passed over me.^(A)
4 Then I said, ‘I am driven away
    from your sight;
how^[a] shall I look again
    upon your holy temple?’^(B)
5 The waters closed in over me;
    the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped around my head^(C)

¹⁷ And I will make justice the line
    and righteousness the plummet;
hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
    and waters will overwhelm the shelter.^(A)

² I sink in deep mire,
    where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
    and the flood sweeps over me.^(A)
