¹¹ Then she ^(A)made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed ^(B)look on the affliction of Your maidservant and ^(C)remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and ^(D)no razor shall come upon his head.”

³⁵ And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he ^(A)tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me! For I ^(B)have ^[a]given my word to the Lord, and ^(C)I cannot ^[b]go back on it.”

³⁶ So she said to him, “My father, if you have given your word to the Lord, ^(D)do to me according to what has gone out of your mouth, because ^(E)the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the people of Ammon.”

¹² But if her husband truly made them void on the day he heard them, then whatever proceeded from her lips concerning her vows or concerning the agreement binding her, it shall not stand; her husband has made them ^[a]void, and the Lord will release her.

⁸ But if her husband ^(A)overrules her on the day that he hears it, he shall make void her vow which she took and what she uttered with her lips, by which she bound herself, and the Lord will release her.

^2 (A)If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or ^(B)swears an oath to bind himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall ^(C)do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

³ Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, ^(A)who answered me in the day of my distress ^(B)and has been with me in the way which I have gone.”
