⁷ But if we walk in the light,^(A) as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all^[a] sin.^(B)

¹³ The blood of goats and bulls^(A) and the ashes of a heifer^(B) sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. ¹⁴ How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit^(C) offered himself^(D) unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences^(E) from acts that lead to death,^[a](F) so that we may serve the living God!^(G)

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,^(A) the firstborn from the dead,^(B) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.^(C)

To him who loves us^(D) and has freed us from our sins by his blood,^(E)

¹⁹ When Moses had proclaimed^(A) every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves,^(B) together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.^(C)

¹⁸ Then a man who is ceremonially clean is to take some hyssop,^(A) dip it in the water and sprinkle^(B) the tent and all the furnishings and the people who were there. He must also sprinkle anyone who has touched a human bone or a grave^(C) or anyone who has been killed or anyone who has died a natural death. ¹⁹ The man who is clean is to sprinkle^(D) those who are unclean on the third and seventh days, and on the seventh day he is to purify them.^(E) Those who are being cleansed must wash their clothes^(F) and bathe with water, and that evening they will be clean. ²⁰ But if those who are unclean do not purify themselves, they must be cut off from the community, because they have defiled^(G) the sanctuary of the Lord.^(H) The water of cleansing has not been sprinkled on them, and they are unclean.^(I)

²⁶ to make her holy,^(A) cleansing^[a] her by the washing^(B) with water through the word, ²⁷ and to present her to himself^(C) as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.^(D)

²² Take a bunch of hyssop,^(A) dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood^(B) on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning.
