⁷ But if we walk in the light,^(A) as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all^[a] sin.^(B)

⁸ If we claim to be without sin,^(C) we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.^{(D) 9} If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins^(E) and purify us from all unrighteousness.^(F)

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,^(A) the firstborn from the dead,^(B) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.^(C)

To him who loves us^(D) and has freed us from our sins by his blood,^(E)

²¹ and since we have a great priest^(A) over the house of God,^{(B) 22} let us draw near to God^(C) with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings,^(D) having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience^(E) and having our bodies washed with pure water.^(F)

²⁵ I will sprinkle^(A) clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse^(B) you from all your impurities^(C) and from all your idols.^(D)

¹¹ And that is what some of you were.^(A) But you were washed,^(B) you were sanctified,^(C) you were justified^(D) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized^(A) and wash your sins away,^(B) calling on his name.’^(C)
