⁵ The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
    and his soul hates the lover of violence.^(A)

¹³ Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name;
    the upright shall live in your presence.^(A)

²¹ These things you have done, and I have been silent;
    you thought that I was one just like yourself.
But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.^(A)

¹³ Your eyes are too pure to behold evil,
    and you cannot look on wrongdoing;
why do you look on the treacherous
    and are silent when the wicked swallow
    those more righteous than they?^(A)

¹⁵ showing that the Lord is upright;
    he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.^(A)
