⁹ He makes wars^(A) cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow^(B) and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields^[a] with fire.^(C)

⁴ He will judge^(A) between the nations
    and will settle disputes^(B) for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
    and their spears into pruning hooks.^(C)
Nation will not take up sword against nation,^(D)
    nor will they train for war anymore.

4 Everyone will sit under their own vine
    and under their own fig tree,^(E)
and no one will make them afraid,^(F)
    for the Lord Almighty has spoken.^(G)

“I will destroy your horses from among you
    and demolish your chariots.^(A)

¹⁸ No longer will violence^(A) be heard in your land,
    nor ruin or destruction^(B) within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation^(C)
    and your gates Praise.^(D)

⁴ You are radiant with light,^(C)
    more majestic than mountains rich with game.
⁵ The valiant^(D) lie plundered,
    they sleep their last sleep;^(E)
not one of the warriors
    can lift his hands.
⁶ At your rebuke,^(F) God of Jacob,
    both horse and chariot^(G) lie still.

⁴ “The bows of the warriors are broken,^(A)
    but those who stumbled are armed with strength.^(B)

⁹ They will neither harm nor destroy^(A)
    on all my holy mountain,^(B)
for the earth^(C) will be filled with the knowledge^(D) of the Lord
    as the waters cover the sea.
