Psalm 39:8-13

New International Version

⁸ Save me^(A) from all my transgressions;^(B)
    do not make me the scorn^(C) of fools.
⁹ I was silent;^(D) I would not open my mouth,^(E)
    for you are the one who has done this.^(F)
10 Remove your scourge from me;
    I am overcome by the blow^(G) of your hand.^(H)
11 When you rebuke^(I) and discipline^(J) anyone for their sin,
    you consume^(K) their wealth like a moth^(L)—
    surely everyone is but a breath.^(M)

¹² “Hear my prayer, Lord,
    listen to my cry for help;^(N)
    do not be deaf^(O) to my weeping.^(P)
I dwell with you as a foreigner,^(Q)
    a stranger,^(R) as all my ancestors were.^(S)
13 Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again
    before I depart and am no more.”^(T)
