¹⁹ they are not put to shame in evil times;
    in ^(A)the days of famine they have abundance.

¹⁹ that he may ^(A)deliver their soul from death
    and keep them alive in ^(B)famine.

^3 (A)The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,
    ^(B)but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

^20 (A)In famine he will redeem you from death,
    and in war from the power of the sword.
²¹ You shall be ^(B)hidden from the lash of the tongue,
    and shall not fear destruction when it comes.
²² At destruction and famine you shall laugh,
    and shall not fear ^(C)the beasts of the earth.

¹⁶ he will dwell on the heights;
    his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks;
    ^(A)his bread will be given him; his water will be sure.

¹³ Therefore he who is prudent will ^(A)keep silent in such a time,
    ^(B)for it is an evil time.

³ Therefore thus says the Lord:
behold, against ^(A)this family I am devising disaster,^[a]
    from which you cannot remove your necks,
and you ^(B)shall not walk haughtily,
    ^(C)for it will be a time of disaster.
