Woe to Evildoers

¹² Because of transgression, ^(A)an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast ^(B)truth down to the ground. He ^(C)did all this and prospered.

¹⁶ So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

⁴ and ^(A)plotted to take Jesus by ^[a]trickery and kill Him.

⁶ But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him of the people of Mordecai. Instead, Haman ^(A)sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus—the people of Mordecai.

¹⁰ Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom ^(A)reigns in Hebron!’ ” ¹¹ And with Absalom went two hundred men ^(B)invited from Jerusalem, and they ^(C)went along innocently and did not know anything. ¹² Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, ^(D)David’s counselor, from his city—from ^(E)Giloh—while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom ^(F)continually increased in number.
